Amelia Earhart Women in Aerospace PhD Fellowship

Grants and Fellowships – Arab Council for the Social Sciences

The ACSS runs a number of fellowships and grants programs that offer opportunities for junior and senior researchers from the region, often facing limited funding and mentoring opportunities. These programs are the key mechanism by which the Council works towards its mission of enhancing the social science capacities of researchers and research institutions; encouraging the production of independent, high-quality research; and providing forums for exchange and communication among social scientists in the Arab region. The programs also focus on supporting the publication and dissemination of high-quality social science research on the Arab region.

Strategic investment in 21 new professorships

Ghent UniversityIn 2017 Ghent University’s Board of Governors decided to allocate 21 new professorships (“21ZAP”, in which ZAP is the abbreviation for Independent Academic Staff at Flemish universities). Instead of simply distributing these new positions across the 11 faculties, they were to be allocated based on an open call identifying strategic opportunities in a collaborative environment. In 2018, 21 vacancies were advertised in order to recruit these new professors.
