The Center’s Scholars’ Program encompasses both short and long-term fellowships. Through its fellowships, the Center provides support for both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral research. Fellowship proposals may address wide-ranging aspects of the history of collecting in the United States from Colonial times to the present as well as in Europe. Proposals may focus on individual collectors, dealers, developments, or trends in the art market. Interdisciplinary research is especially encouraged. The recipient will be made a Visiting Fellow of Linacre College. The fellowship, funded by the Association of Commonwealth Universities, provides accommodation for up to one month, return transport from the fellow’s home country, meals in college when available and a modest living allowance. Application Guidelines for the 2018 Xiamen University Scholarships for New International Students
- Introduction
XMU itself offers scholarships to doctoral, master’s and undergraduate candidates. Scholarship awardees will have their tuitions covered (a maximum of 4 years for doctoral programmes, 2 or 3 years for master’s programmes, 4 or 5 years for undergraduate programmes). Moreover, XMU provides monthly living allowances for outstanding master’s or doctoral candidates in accordance with the standards of Chinese Government Scholarships. The awardees’ academic performance will be assessed each year and only those achieving the required standard will have their scholarship renewed for the following year. This proposition is intended as a provocation—to stimulate productive controversy and debate—and does not necessarily represent the views of the Open Society Foundations. Applicants are invited to dispute, substantiate, or otherwise engage with the proposition in their submissions. Though the proposition deals with economic issues, those without an economics or business background are welcome to apply, provided they have a relevant project in mind.
