2024 EU Sakharov Fellowship for Non-EU Countries Human Rights Defenders

Sakharov Fellowship 4-16 March 2024 – call for applications

The deadline for applications is midnight 8 October 2023 (CET). Successful candidates will receive confirmation by email, latest by 17 November 2023.

The European Parliament’s Sakharov Fellowship offers up to 14 human rights defenders selected from non-EU countries the opportunity to follow a two week intensive training in Brussels and at the Global Campus of Human Rights in Venice. The empowering programme for human rights defenders has been organised annually since 2016 further to an initiative taken by the Sakharov Prize Community at the 25th Anniversary Conference of the Sakharov Prize.

Merit Scholarship for Foreign Students (PBEEE) program rules

In support of the Québec government’s science policy, the Merit Scholarship for Foreign Students program has the following objectives:

  • Support the internationalization of research activities in Québec’s higher education institutions;
  • Attract top foreign researchers and students and promote international recognition of Québec universities and College Centres for the Transfer of Technologies (CCTT);
  • Create cultural links and pave the way for the setting up of joint scientific research projects.

The Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et technologies (FRQNT) is responsible for managing the program. It was commissioned by the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur du Québec (MES) which provides the funding.

Young Civil Society Leadership Program

Calling Young Leaders Across The Mediterranean!

As part of the EU-funded project Med Dialogue for Rights and Equality II, the Young Civil Society Leadership Program is launching a call to recruit 25 young Mediterranean leaders for the first among three cohorts to come. The program encourages young people to propose micro-actions that leverage advanced technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance good governance and/or enrich the debate and contribute to strengthening the role of young leaders from civil society and their contribution to building good governance frameworks for advanced technologies use in the Southern Mediterranean.

What are the benefits?

  • A tailor-made youth empowerment program that will run over 12 months and include online and physical meetings.
  • Build and connect to a network and a community of young leaders from the Southern Mediterranean region.
  • Assistance to implement concrete actions or micro-projects.
  • Active participants will be recommended and supported to participate at high level policy dialogues within the Euro-Med space.
  • Most prominent participants will be invited with all expenses covered to attend the Anna Lindh Foundation Forum in 2025.

Who can apply?

Candidates submitting their application through this Call must:

  • Be nationals of the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, Syria.
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old.

The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and the Singapore Management University (SMU).

PhD training is carried out in English at a student’s chosen lab at A*STAR research institutes and NTU/NUS/SUTD/SMU. Upon successful completion, students are conferred a PhD degree by either NTU, NUS, SUTD or SMU.

Graduate Students Position (Conservation of lentic riparian areas using virtual fencing)

We are seeking a highly qualified MSc graduate student to work on:
– Virtual fencing technologies to alter the spatio-temporal distribution and forage utilization by beef cattle while grazing on pasture so as to ensure riparian area (wetland) conservation.
– This work builds on ongoing research done in 2022 and 2023 demonstrating that VF technologies provide a novel tool to control cattle geolocation and facilitate rotational grazing of summer pastures.
– Monitoring of outcomes in the field include (but are not limited to) cattle spatial distribution, grazing behavior, forage utilization patterns, and riparian area condition/health.
