The University of Manitoba College of Pharmacy is one of Canada’s eleven faculties/colleges of pharmacy. It is located on Bannatyne Campus in the state-of-the-art Apotex Centre, which features modern laboratories, teaching facilities, and student spaces. The University of Manitoba is a member of Canada’s U15 group of research-Intensive universities.

Current Open Positions: 

Research Staff: 
Research Analyst/Bioinformatician
We are looking for a part-time (10 – 14 hours/week) Clinical Research Analyst/Bioinformatician starting January 1, 2024. The main duties of the position: (1) design and help with biostatistical analysis and graphical presentation of data from clinical  and online-based datasets, (2) analyze genomic (i.e., array-based genotyping, CNV, sequencing), transcriptomic (i.e., RNA sequencing), or imaging data, (3) help with systematic reviews (evidence synthesis) and meta-analyses, (4) help with RedCap database design, (5) help with background research for grant submission, and (6) co-author publications and research reports.
The analyst must have experience with data management (e.g., cleaning, linking), analysis (preparing detailed analytic plans using basic and advanced statistical methods), visualization, and interpretation. The person must be an an expert user of R or SAS and related genomic analysis tools. Please e-mail us with a letter of interest and your CV. Graduate Students: 
We are currently looking for graduate students (MSc or MSc leading to a PhD) to start in Fall (Sep) 2024. Prospective graduate students are requested to contact Dr. Maruf via e-mail to inquire about open positions and potential fit in the lab. We will reply with interview details if you are considered for a position. Research Volunteers:

Volunteer positions (local or international, graduate or undergraduate students) are open on a rolling basis. We are looking for volunteers for following positions:

  • Science Communicator and Writer
  • Clinical Research Assistant
  • Clinical Data Analyst

Current Priorities:
[1] Clinical Pharmacy/Health Outcomes/Global Precision Public Health, preferably with a pharmacy/epidemiology/biostatistics background

  • Have experience or interest in clinical data collection, management (e.g., cleaning, linking), analysis (preparing detailed analytic plans using basic statistical methods), visualization, and interpretation. 
  • Have experience or interest in evidence synthesis (e.g., systematic reviews) and (network) meta-analysis.

[2] Clinical Pharmacogenomics, preferably with a bioinformatics/molecular biology background

  • Have experience or interest in using large high dimensional data sets, including genomic data (i.e., array-based genotyping, CNV, sequencing), transcriptomic data (i.e., RNA sequencing), or imaging data. 
  • Have experience or interest in basic molecular biology techniques.

Self-Fund: There are no self-funded graduate student positions in our lab.
