Under the guidance and general supervision of the Chief of Education, the role of the Reports Specialist (Business Processes) is to maintain the general operations and funding of the Education team, including administration, fundraising, general oversight of fund utilization, and reporting. This includes writing donor proposals for a wide variety of private and public sector donors. It also includes supporting the office in regular management tasks, such as annual planning support, HACT support, financial oversight and NGO partnership management. Additionally, the role entails assisting with regular monthly and annual programmatic reporting. This includes ensuring that the reporting of the Education team is completed to a high standard, and liaising with colleagues in PME (Programme, Monitoring & Evaluation unit). For core annual documents, such as the Annual Workplan, this includes working with technical team colleagues to ensure proper costing, availability of funds and general alignment with donor conditionality. It also includes working actively with Communications colleagues to complete necessary visualization stories and boost visibility for Education activities in Syria. Lastly, the role will look to oversee the general trends of funding in the education team. This includes working with programme staff to monitor overall/high-level usage of grants, including helping strategically allocate grants when they are received.
Under the guidance and direct supervision of WASH Regional Adviser (WCARO), the WASH Specialist provides technical support in strengthening the capacity of African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) to provide enabling policy environment for sanitation transformation in Africa. The WASH Specialist is to work closely with AMCOW and be the liaison between AMCOW and UNICEF. Therefore, the WASH Specialist works in close collaboration with all three UNICEF regional offices: WCARO, ESARO and MENARO as well as with WASH Section HQ. Close collaboration with UNICEF country offices will be critical for promoting an enabling policy environment for scaling up of sanitation and hygiene in Africa.
A Multi-Country (MC) Evaluation Specialist post will, on the basis of efficiency and effectiveness considerations, be located in the Regional Office. Irrespective of the location, a matrix management approach will be applied in which the Regional Office and cooperating Country Offices contribute to the performance review of the MC Evaluation Specialist. The MC Evaluation Specialist reports to the Regional Evaluation Adviser (P-5) for evaluation oversight, and to the Representatives of the Country Offices that fall under his/her responsibilities (Burkina Faso, Chad, Central African Republic, Sierra Leone, Togo) for administrative oversight, including in matters related to evaluation sponsorship, planning, funding and use.
