Every year, Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) will fund five scholarships for outstanding individuals from West Africa to pursue the Master of Public Policy degree at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford.
AIG Scholars will be expected, upon graduation, to return to their home country and apply their learning experience as change agents in their country’s public sector.
The AIG Scholarships are fully funded covering fees, accommodation and living expenses, does not cover travel or visa expenses however.

What are the AIG Scholarships?
The AIG Scholarships are postgraduate scholarships awarded to outstanding individuals from Nigeria or Ghana to undergo the Master of Public Policy (MPP) Programme at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. Upon graduation, AIG Scholars will be expected to return to their home country and apply their learning experience as change agents in their country’s public sector.
Am I eligible for the AIG Scholarship?
The AIG Scholarship is open to Nigerian and Ghanaian graduates between the ages of 25 and 35. Interested applicants must possess either a first-class or second-class upper degree (with honours) or its equivalent in any discipline from a recognised institution. Having a Master’s, Second Degree or Relevant Professional qualification is an added advantage.
When is the award of an AIG Scholarship confirmed?
Candidates who emerge as finalists in the Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG) selection process will be expected to apply directly to the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford for admissions. Finalists who are offered admission to the Master of Public Policy will be considered by the School in the final selection of AIG Scholars.

Lastly, fill in the Bio-data information form and click the ‘Submit’ button. A confirmation e-mail is automatically sent to your registered e-mail address. NOTE: This is the first step in the AIG Scholarship application process.

Am I obliged to complete my application process immediately I register?
No, you can log in anytime not later than the application deadline to complete your application. No, you cannot edit your information after submitting your application. Applicants are therefore advised to review information entered in the portal before submitting their application.
Are multiple applications for the AIG Scholarship programme allowed?
No, you are only allowed to submit one application for the AIG Scholarships. Duplicate entries are not allowed and will not be processed.
