FW’s Small Grants Fund and Tech Fellowship support civil society organizations and individuals around the world to use GFW in their advocacy, research, and field work. Details on both awards are available below.
GFW Small Grants Fund (Application open February 1st, 2019 – March 15th, 2019)
The Small Grants Fund (SGF) aims to promote broad uptake and innovative use of GFW by civil society around the world. The fund provides financial and technical support to civil society organizations to apply Global Forest Watch data and technology in support of their work to strengthen local forest management and conservation practices, conduct evidence-based advocacy and campaigning, and promote greater transparency in the forest sector. GFW Tech Fellowship (Application opens February 15th, 2019 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis)
The GFW Tech Fellowship seeks forest protection advocates who are passionate about using technology for forest monitoring from a variety of sectors including: law, science, journalism, law enforcement, advocacy and conservation. This year-long program offers Fellows opportunities for skill-building, networking, and mentorship, including participation in a four-day tech camp and the Global Forest Watch 2019 User Summit in Washington, D.C.
