University of Padova Multiple Scholarship Programmes

The University of Padova, the Veneto Region and other organisations offer various scholarship schemes to support students. Below is a list of the funding opportunities that are most often used by international students in Padova.

  Padova International Excellence Scholarship Programme – a.y. 2019/20

The University of Padova offers scholarships to highly talented prospective students wishing to pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree completely held in English at PadovaThe scholarship programme is highly selective. Only candidates showing the highest achievements and school / academic records may receive a scholarship. The successful scholars will be expected to fulfil an ambassadorial role and represent the University at a number of events.

Amount of scholarship: fee-waiver + €12.000,00 scholarship (gross amount).

Who can apply: highly talented prospective international students from all over the world wishing to enrol in one of University of Padova Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees completely held in English.

To be eligible, you must:

  • have a non-Italian nationality
  • hold a non-Italian secondary school diploma (for Bachelor’s degree applicants) or a non-Italian Bachelor’s degree (for Master’s degree applicants)
  • pre-enrol to any degree course completely taught in English at the University of Padova within the deadline (see the Call for Applications)

Failure to meet one or more of these criteria automatically means that you are not eligible for this scholarship.

How to apply: you will be automatically considered for the selection procedure if you meet the requirements. There is no separate application to be filled out or additional specific documents to be submitted besides those indicated in the Calls for applications of the chosen course.

Selection criteria: admitted candidates are selected for a scholarship on the basis of their academic excellence and promise in the proposed field of study, academic quality and results of the preceding education, etc. Evaluation Committees will award up to 1 (one) scholarship for each Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.

Acceptance: please note that, in order to receive the scholarship, you must:

  • complete the online acceptance procedure and pay a tuition fee deposit of €185,00 within the deadline indicated in your Offer Letter
  • not benefit of other national or international scholarships or grants.
  • be able to comply with the conditions for obtaining an Italian visa (non-European students only)

Payments arrangements: the scholarship will be paid in three (3) instalments of  €4.000,00 (gross amount) each. You will receive the first instalment once in Padova, upon completion of enrolment procedures. The following instalments will be released if you achieve at least:

  • 12 ECTS by 28th February 2020
  • 36 ECTS by 10th August 2020.

Duration: scholarships will be offered for 1 academic year. Renewals could be granted upon specific merit conditions, but are not necessarily guaranteed.

Revocation: the University of Padova will revoke your scholarship if:

  • you do not obtain at least 20 ECTS by 30th November 2020
  • you decide to transfer to another University or withdraw from your studies.

In the above cases, you shall refund the amount of the scholarship already received.

Other National and International Scholarships

  Scholarships awarded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – a.y. 2018/19

Every year, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation awards scholarships for studying in Italy to both International students and Italian students who are permanent residents in countries other than Italy (IRE).

The aim of these scholarships is to foster international cultural cooperation, spread the knowledge of the Italian language, culture and science, as well as promote the Italian economic and technological system throughout the world. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes, both public and legally recognised.

Who can apply: International students and Italian students who are permanent residents in countries other than Italy (IRE).

Eligible courses: scholarship applications are open to students wishing to apply to one of the following type of courses offered by the University of Padova:

  1. Second-cycle courses  (Master’s Degree – Laurea magistrale)
  2. PhD Programmes
  3. Research under academic supervision (Progetti in co-tutela)

Age requirements:

  1. Second-cycle courses: applicants should not be over 28 years old by the deadline of this call, with the sole exception of renewals.
  2. PhD Programmes: applicants should not be over 30 years old by the deadline of this call, with the sole exception of renewals.
  3. Research Projects under academic supervision: applicants should not be over 40 years old by the deadline of this call.

  Invest Your Talent – a.y. 2019/20

Invest Your Talent in Italy supports talented international students wishing to enrol in English-taught second-cycle degree courses in the fields of Engineering and Information TechnologiesManagement and Economics at top-ranked Italian universities, including the University of Padova. The programme offers full scholarship packages including subsistence allowance, fee-waiver and dedicated student support services. A short internship at leading Italian companies is also foreseen as part of the programme. It is supported by the Italian Government and the Italian Trade Agency.

Who can apply: the programme is open to talented students who completed at least a Bachelor degree and come from one of the following countries: Azerbaijan, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Popular Republic of China, Turkey, Tunisia and Vietnam.

Available degree courses: student applying for “Invest your Talent in Italy” can choose among the following Master’s degree courses completely taught in English offered by the University of Padova:

Amount of scholarship: €900,00 monthly allowance on a quarterly basis

Duration of scholarships: scholarships will be offered for one academic year. It might be renewed for the second year upon certain conditions.

PhD Scholarships

  China Scholarship Council – University of Padova Scholarships

The University of Padova and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) have created a scholarship programme to enable talented Chinese students to undertake a PhD programme at Padova.
The scholarships build on Padova University’s existing relationship with China. It has, in fact, extensive research links with Chinese research institutions and Universities. This scheme provides Chinese students who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential with the opportunity to study for a PhD at the University of Padova. They are supported jointly by the China Scholarship (on behalf of the Chinese Ministry of Education) and the University of Padova.

  Gini Foundation: Grants for Foreign Nationals

The Fondazione “Ing. Aldo Gini” supports those who plan to pursue a period of study and/or specialization in a department of the University of Padova in the scientific fields of Agriculture, Engineering or Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences for a period of at least six months and no more than one year.

  15 PhD grants for foreign students fully funded by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo – Deadline expired

The University of Padova, through funding from the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo, offers research fellowships for foreign students to attend Doctoral Courses. During the 3-year doctorate programme, successful candidates are entitled to full board and lodging.
15 PhD grants for the admission of foreign candidates to doctoral courses (33rdseries) a.y. 2017/18 are now available.

Deadline: 28th March 2017

Successful candidates must confirm their will to enrol by 3rd July 2017 either by sending a fax to number +39 049 8271934 (a copy of a valid ID document must be attached) or by sending an email to doctoral.grants@unipd.it or formazione.ricerca@unipd.it including a scanned copy of a valid ID document.
In the communication, they will have to confirm the choice of the Doctoral Course and of the curriculum (if any)
