The Business School is offering a number of scholarships for students applying to study Masters programmes. A number of scholarships are available for taught postgraduate students in the Business School. All applicant must have been accepted for study towards a taught postgraduate degree in the School.

A number of scholarships for new students beginning their PhD programme in September 2019 are now available.
We seek to award scholarships to the best applicants across all areas of the School. All scholarship applicants must follow the instructions on how to apply for each scholarship.
All scholarship applicants must also submit an online application for a place on the PhD programme. See the How to Apply page for more details. Awardees of external scholarships will not be considered for the scholarships we offer.
Please note: For all scholarships, we strongly advise that you submit your programme application at least 5 working days before the scholarship closing date. You will not be able to access the scholarship online application form unless you have applied for the doctoral programme at the University of Edinburgh.

College Research Award

Candidates for the College Research Award must be seeking to start their first year of full-time or part-time PhD study in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences within the academic year 2019/2020. MSc by Research programmes are not eligible. Applicants must be of outstanding academic merit and research potential.
Principal’s Career Development Scholarships
The Business School offers up to two scholarships across any area of study within the doctoral programme.

AHRC Collaborative PhD Studentship
The University of Edinburgh and Creative Scotland are seeking prospective doctoral students to collaborate with us on an AHRC-funded PhD proposal to help define the creative industries in Scotland. The project has been short-listed by the Scottish Graduate School of Arts and Humanities (SGSAH), under the supervision of Professor Candace Jones (University of Edinburgh Business School) and Dr Dave O’Brien (Edinburgh College of Art), along with Clive Gillman, Creative Scotland.

Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship
The University of Edinburgh offers a number of research scholarships for PhD study in any subject offered by the University. The awards are open to overseas students undertaking a research degree. Each award covers the difference between the tuition fee for a UK/EU graduate student and that chargeable to an overseas graduate student. The awards do not cover maintenance expenses.

Economic and Social Research Scholarships (ESRC)
The University of Edinburgh is a member institution of the Scotland-wide Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) which is funded and accredited by the ESRC. The DTC provides world-class postgraduate research and training in the social sciences across a wide range of disciplines, known as ‘pathways’, of which the Business School falls under ‘Accounting, Finance, Business and Management’.

ESRC AQM/Data Sets Studentship
The Business School has successfully been allocated a studentship for the project ‘Interpretable scoring models for understanding household financial distress’ under the supervision of Dr Belen Martin-Barragan and Dr Raffaella Calabrese. This project has been allocated a 1+3 or +3 years studentship.

Interviews will form part of the selection process for a place on the programmes and are either in person or via Skype, if required. Interviews normally comprise a question and answer session for you to talk about your previous research, your current proposal and intended research project, and your reasons for applying to work with your potential supervisor.
University of Edinburgh Graduate Scheme
The University of Edinburgh offers a 10% discount in postgraduate tuition fees for all alumni who have graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Edinburgh.
