Job Summary:
A research associate position to study muscle regeneration and muscular dystrophy using the mouse model is available in the laboratory of Dr. Chen-Ming Fan at the Carnegie Institution for Science, Department of Embryology, in Baltimore, MD.
The research objective is to understand normal and pathological muscle biology from the stem cell perspective. The position requires a highly-motivated applicant with experience in stem cell biology. The position involves conducting research using mouse as a model organism. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. with hands-on experimental expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, and genetics. The primary role of this position is to conduct research projects funded by the NIH both independently as well as in a team effort to study muscle stem cell quiescence, activation, differentiation, in normal, aging and diseased conditions.
The Carnegie Department of Embryology follows the current NIH-NRSA postdoctoral stipend scale. Our postdoctoral benefit package includes health care, sick leave, annual leave, parental leave, life insurance, and paid holidays.
Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will be creative, industrious, have excellent communication skills, and enjoy working independently as well as collaboratively. A Ph.D. in a related field and fluency in spoken and written English is required for the position.

The Carnegie Institution for Science seeks a full-time IT Systems Administrator in the Department of Embryology.
Responsibilities:
- Support for all hardware devices including Macintosh/Windows/Linux computers, tablets, smartphones, digital handsets, IP phones, IP Cameras, HP & Brother printers and audio/visual equipment.
- Administration of Windows Active Directory infrastructure
- Administration of VSphere 6.5 infrastructure
- Support for all Macintosh desktop software
- Software license administration and keyserver maintenance.
- Respond to help desk requests as necessary
- Perform general technical support tasks and projects as assigned by IT Manager
- New employee tech setup
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, team player mentality
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Windows Server 2008-2016 management
- Mac OS X experience is essential
- Demonstrated proficiency with Windows 7 and 10 support
- Expert knowledge using and supporting Linux based operating systems & services. (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, ect.
- Management, monitoring, and access control of large scale networked storage hardware
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer hardware and peripherals
- Knowledge of basic networking principles & hardware
- Demonstrated proficiency supporting Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- FileMaker Pro database development and support
- Experience with Apple Motion and Final Cut Pro

Job Summary:
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Marnie Halpern at the Carnegie Institution for Science, Department of Embryology in Baltimore, MD. The Halpern laboratory uses the zebrafish model to study a conserved neural pathway in the vertebrate brain and the behavioral significance of its left-right asymmetry. Additional projects involve the generation of new transgenic tools for the nervous system using genome editing, transcriptional profiling and mutant analyses.
The position requires a highly motivated applicant with a strong interest in questions of neural circuitry and how differential processing of information by neurons on the left and right sides of the brain leads to appropriate behavioral responses. The candidate will use innovative transgenic tools and behavioral assays to characterize and determine the function of left-right neuronal specializations.
